Get started reading the 2023 Beehive Book Award Nominees

Get your team of four together now!

Battle of the Books is a bowl style competition similar to the Geography Bowl where four students are on a team.

The team as a whole must have read the book list provided beforehand. There are many strategies and each team can decide if they want each member to read every book or if they want to divide and conquer. HINT: It is extremely helpful to memorize the book titles and authors. Here is list to make that easier for you, or you can pick up a printed copy in the library.

The library has at least one copy of each book on the list but due to demand, students are encouraged to check some out from their local public library or through OverDrive (ebooks or audio).

During the Battle of the Books, questions will be given at the same time and each group must work together to write down their answer on a whiteboard in the time given.  Each correct answer will be awarded points and the teams with the most points will go on to our district competition against the top teams from Thomas Edison North Campus. The district competition will be held at South Campus in the spring of 2023.

This event is for 4th - 8th graders.

This is an extracurricular, after school activity and parental/guardian permission must be given to participate.

Permission slips will be available in early September.

The book list is available to view here.

There are also printed copies available in the library.
